AN
OCEANSIDE TRADITION
A tradition
in Oceanside since the 30's, Miss Oceanside pageant has been
a very popular event which attracts a bevy of beauties. This
year marks the 125th anniversary for the City of Oceanside,
and the Miss Oceanside tradition is here to stay.
Some of our former Miss Oceanside's include Jeanene Cross,
Miss Oceanside 1948, who went on to win the Fairest of the
Fair; and Miss Oceanside 1949 was Alice Kerr, who also won
Fairest of the Fair.
A more famous
Miss Oceanside was Barbara Mandrell, who was Miss Oceanside
in 1965. Denise Richards was a former contestant in the
pageant as well.
The Miss Oceanside and Miss Teen Oceanside Pageant has been
sponsored by the Oceanside Sea Lions since 1981. Prior to
that date, the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce sponsored the
event.
