Relay for Life

The annual ACS Oceanside Relay for Life was held on April 29, 2017 at Miracosta College which is the biggest fundraising event to raise awareness of Cancer and money. There were touching moments when the cancer survivors from 1 month to 36 years talked about survivorship. A lot of donors, supporters, caregivers, volunteers showed up. Oceanside Sea Lions Miss Oceanside Maggie Islas, Princess Ilona Malinovska, Princess Sarah Holloway, Teen Princess Kassidy Betz, Teen Princess Haley Cook, Pam Pahnke community liaison, Lion Dennis Sisneros, Director Zucette Lumabas attended. The ladies walked around the field. There were Mayor Jim Wood, Council member Jerry Kern, our heroes OFD Fire Chief Rick Robinson, Deputy Chief Bill and his wife Santi Kogerman, Capt. Mike Farnham and his crew, OPD Capt. Sean and his wife Tammy Marchand, Officer Bob Sterling, OCC David Zumaya membership director and other members, Parks & Recreation manager Eileen Turk, Steve Marcotte of OsideNews.com to name a few. It was a very successful event.
I also went to the Y Healthy Kids Day at the Joe & Mary Mottino YMCA where I saw our heroes OFD OFA president David Overton and his crew with their firetruck which the kids and adult enjoyed exploring. It was another successful event.
